The pen is designed for those with diminished strength and/or mobility in hands or arms. Its shape and size allow a bent thumb grip and prevent pressure points developing in the fold of the thumb and over straining of the forefinger. Filling it with weights such as lead pellets or sand can vary the weight of the pen. Refills readily available at stationary stores.
